Helping the Elderly —
Friend of the Boxborough Council on Aging
Mildred lived most of her adult life in Boxborough, where she raised her family, served as a volunteer for various community groups, and enjoyed the many facets of small town life. When she reached her senior years, simple tasks and pleasures became ever more difficult to handle, and Mildred felt isolated and forgotten. When she learned about the many programs offered through the Friends of the Boxborough Council on Aging, she was able to rejoin community life by taking advantage of their support programs and social events.
Where just two years ago, Mildred was both physically and emotionally frail, she is now active and feeling healthier because she is able to enjoy the company of others, and the support of those who care for her and other senior citizens like her.
The Acton-Boxborough United Way is a major source of funding for the both the Friends of the Boxborough Council on Aging, and the Friends of the Acton Council on Aging.
