Business Partnerships
The local business community has been very supportive of the work of the Acton-Boxborough United Way over the years. If you have a business that serves area residents, we invite you to partner with us to improve the quality of life for our community. There are many ways you can get involved:

1) Start a payroll deduction campaign for your employees

2) Make a direct corporate contribution

3) Sponsor an event — such as our Concert for the Community — or other part of our business, such as the website, a direct mail piece, or newsletter.

In addition, many corporations support the United Way through their participation in the United Ways of New England regional campaign for 24 local United Way affiliates, and through their relationship with other United Way organizations in cities and towns in the region.

Read about what some area businesses have done to help those in need in our communities:

Corning
The Life Sciences Division of Corning, Inc., located in the Nagog Park office complex, has been partnering with the Acton-Boxborough United Way for several years. They have conducted a payroll deduction campaign with their employees, food and clothing drives for local organizations, and in 2004, they held a Chili and Dessert Cook-Off that raised several hundred dollars for the Acton-Boxborough United Way. They will also be participating in a holiday “adopt-a-family” for two local families to ensure a happy holiday season for those less fortunate. This company, whose offices in other parts of the country, including their headquarters state of New York, is a long time supporter of the United Way and our efforts to improve the quality of life for all citizens. Thank you, Corning!

Liberty Mutual
Liberty Mutual’s Acton site — a sales and service office — participates in the corporation’s annual United Way efforts through their partnership in the United Ways of New England, a regional campaign management organization that oversees this effort at Liberty Mutual’s offices throughout New England. The Acton division is an award-winning campaign location, having earned several of UWONE’s Silver and Bronze awards in recent years. They have close to 100% participation amongst their local staff, and in addition to their financial support, the Acton office conducts food, clothing and household items collections to ease the burden on local families in need. Thank you, Liberty Mutual!

Middlesex Savings Bank
For the second year in a row, Middlesex Savings Bank will be a premium sponsor of the ABUW’s Concert for the Community, which will next be held on April 30, 2005 featuring Dr. Elliot Steger. A very community-minded bank, Middlesex has been a significant participant in this fundraising event, and through their generosity, many people — clients of local agencies — will be able to attend and enjoy this concert, something they may not otherwise have been able to do on their own. We look forward to partnering with Middlesex Savings Bank again in 2005 to raise funds — and awareness — for the Acton-Boxborough United Way. Thank you, Middlesex Savings Bank!
