Acton-Boxborough United Way
Day of Caring
September 22nd
Thank you to the 50 volunteers who participated in the Acton-Boxborough United Way Day of Caring on September 22nd.
We appreciate the time and talents you loaned to local agencies and the people they serve.
Volunteers included employees from AAA, Acton Real Estate, Cambridge Savings Bank, Dolphin Insulation, Enterprise Bank, Holiday Inn, Northern Trust, Payright Payroll, Prudential Insurance, and Worker’s Credit Union.
Volunteers from the community and from ABRHS Youth in Philanthropy also participated.
Through your generous donation of time and labor, clients were helped at HGRM, client materials were organized for the Boxborough Council on Aging, grounds were cleaned up at Acton Housing’s elderly housing properties and at the Boxborough COA, the playground at First Connections in Concord was spruced up, and meals were delivered to elders from Minuteman Senior Services.
Our community is all the better for your efforts.
Thanks also to the following local organizations that lent support to the event: Bagels Plus, Donelan’s, Idylwilde Farms, Roche Bros., Starbucks, and the Congregation Beth Elohim.
Congratulations and Thank You
to all ABUW teams and sponsors
for accepting the 2011 Challenge!
Four teams of Acton-Boxborough residents and business owners participated in the ninth annual Community Chest Challenge on Sunday, June 5, 2011.
Acton-Boxborough United Way thanks these teams and our business sponsors for their support in raising funds for local human service needs.
The business sponsors for our 2011 Challenge teams are KoKo Fit Club, Survey Crafter, Acton Medical Associates, and Middlesex Savings Bank.
We also thank Roche Bros. and Dunkin Donuts of Acton for supplying beverages and food for this fun relay event.
Our Acton-Boxborough teams joined others from Concord, Carlisle and Maynard to bike 11 miles, run 3 miles and row 2 miles through historic Concord and Carlisle.

Congratulations to the first Acton team across the finish line on Sunday morning, the Acton Acorns, with team members Jim Schmidt, Samantha Schmidt, Peter Sousounis, Mary Jane Nottonson, Lewis Nottonson, and Jeff Nottonson.

The KoKo Fit Club fielded Team KoKo with members Jeff Granville, Trevor Granville, Jon Raymond, Jon O’Neal, Annie Monksano, and Dan Scheibe.

Our all-female team entry was Viva Zapata with friends Lisa Robb, Jen Stone, Sharon Cotnam, Joanne Urso, and Shannon Bischoff.

The fourth local team was aptly named Are You Faster than a 6th Grader? This competitive multi-age group included Scott Robb, Courtney Robb, Mark Longwell, Paul Marcinkiewicz, Ashley Hawes, and Andrew Hawes.
Thank you for supporting your local Acton-Boxborough United Way!
