2011-2012 Grant Allocations

ABUW is proud to announce its investment of $118,000 in grants to local health and human service organizations working to meet the needs of the community. The ABUW Youth in Philanthropy students carefully distributed a total of $9,000 this year.

ABUW supports nine different community impact areas as part of our Community of Care:

Acton Boxborough High School Student Philanthropists Give $10,000 Click here to read an article about the Acton Boxborough Regional High School's Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) group who recently awarded $10,000 to 4 community groups: Restoration Project, The Discovery Museum and Communities for Restorative Justice and Indian Hill Music.

Community Forum, December 1, 2011 In a round table discussion, attendees, which included State Senator Jamie Eldredge and Representative Jen Benson, shared updates on the issues they have seen affecting our youth, families and elders in Acton and Boxborough. Summer School for Financial Literacy - Giving Back to the Community A collaborative effort between the ABUW, Worker's Credit Union, Acton Housing Authority (AHA), and Acton’s Community Services Coordinator launched Financial Literacy Sessions this summer. Click here for the story.

Spring 2011 Community Forum - Service Integration and Collaboration The ABUW's Spring 2011 Community Forum, held on May 5th, left representatives from nearly 40 community service organizations from the Acton and Boxborough area with a renewed sense of purpose and willingness to pursue the goals of service integration and collaboration. Spotlight on the Domestic Violence Services Network DVSN, a community-based organization, works to end domestic violence of every type in collaboration with 10 police departments including Acton and Boxborough. Click here to read the spotlight article.
