The ABUW works with many organizations and businesses to address the many health and human service concerns that face residents of not only our community, but those around us, near and far. Learn more about the many projects and programs we are working on to improve the quality of life for those in need.

Mass211
In partnership with our fellow members of the Council of Massachusetts United Ways (COMUW), the ABUW is working to facilitate the fruition of the 211 telephone access code as a quick and simple Information and Referral resource for those seeking assistance. This service will enable people in need to dial 211 — similar to dialing 411 for directory assistance, or 911 for emergency assistance — where they will be connected to a trained responder who will be able to provide information about local programs the caller can turn to for help. To date, the technology and business plan have been completed, and funding is now being sought to allow it to go ‘live’. Since the closing 8 years ago of the CODE InfoLine, a local information and referral service that existed in Acton for more than 25 years, there has been a dire need to replace this service for area residents.

Please continue to check back for more information about the Mass211 effort, and other programs the ABUW is involved in collaboratively.
