The ABUW, which was founded in 1981 as the Acton-Boxborough Community Chest, has been working for more than twenty years to help bridge the gap between the needs that exist, the services that are provided, and the cost of making those services available to the folks who need them.
In that time, the ABUW has raised and allocated over $3.1 Million dollars — raised from generous community members and invested back into the health and human service programs that help neighbors and friends find answers to the crises they are facing.
Today, we remain committed to our goal of continuing that support and expanding our programs to include raising awareness of the needs and services that exist within our towns, to continued measurement of the priority of needs, to facilitating the formation of partnerships and collaborations to address unmet needs, and to cultivate greater support of local providers through volunteer coordination efforts.
