Be a part of our ABUW Grant Allocation Process this Spring!
Community volunteers are an essential part of the process that awards funding to organizations that equitably, effectively, and sustainably drive progress on ABUW’s Thrive2024 Impact Focus Areas (Mental Health, Early Childhood Success, Equity & Racial Justice, Financial Stability, and Crisis Preparedness). Volunteer members of the team will review applications, participate in interviews, and make recommendations.

- Interviews with agencies are scheduled for 20 or 30 minutes, with 10 or 15 minutes in between interviews. During those 10 -15 minutes, we will briefly review each interview and/or take a quick break.
- We ask that Evaluators sign up for 3 interviews, more if you are interested. 3 interviews can take as little as 1½ hours. More interviews can help one get a feel for the process and gain perspective.
- You will be asked to submit a rubric for each interview you participate in, and complete the “write-up” for at least one agency. There are templates and past examples that greatly aid in the preparation of the write-up if you are interested.
Who: All members of the Acton and Boxborough Community, are welcome!
When: The process involves 3 parts, an orientation meeting, the actual interviews with grant agencies and the summary deliberation meeting. All meetings will be held via Zoom:
- Orientation meeting
We ask all Allocation Team volunteers to join us for an Orientation Meeting. We will provide a brief introduction, a Toolkit for Volunteer Grant Evaluators with links to grant application materials, training, virtual interview processes and tips.

- Grant Interview Schedule
Most interviews last 20 minutes with a 10 minute post interview debrief. These are for Agencies who are current/recent grant recipients. Interviews for agencies/initiatives applying under our new Targeted Priority Initiative track will be 30 minutes. We request that you sign up for a minimum of 3 interviews. The final deliberation meeting where all volunteers assemble to review all applications, interviews and to determine funding!
